Manufacturing Workflow of Traditional Dental Full Crowns

Dental Impression Acquisition The dentist collects accurate tooth anatomy by taking intra‑oral impressions with dedicated impression materials.

Gypsum Model Fabrication The finished impression is delivered to a dental laboratory. Dental technicians pour gypsum and create a physical plaster model of the patient's dentition.

Wax Pattern Preparation Technicians carve and shape a wax‑made full‑crown pattern on the plaster model.

Investment Casting and High‑temperature Dewaxing The wax pattern is embedded inside investment material. High‑temperature heating burns away the wax and leaves a hollow mould cavity.

Material Casting Molten metal or ceramic raw material is poured into the hollow cavity. The crown blank takes shape after cooling and solidification.

Finishing Adjustment The raw crown is stripped from investment materials. Lab workers conduct trimming, grinding, polishing and fine fitting so the restoration perfectly adapts to the patient's prepared tooth.

Process Flow for Digitally‑fabricated Full Crowns

Three‑dimensional Digital Scanning Clinicians capture tooth‑structure 3D data directly via an intra‑oral scanner. Hybrid scanning combining intra‑oral scanning and plaster‑model scanning is also available for complex oral conditions.

Computer‑aided Crown Design Scan‑acquired digital files are imported into CAD/CAM software. Dental technicians complete virtual modelling and customized full‑crown design on the computer.

CNC Automatic Milling Completed design data is transmitted to the numerical‑control milling machine. The equipment cuts and shapes the raw ceramic or metal block into a physical crown automatically.

Post‑processing and Occlusion Adjustment Milled crowns go through grinding, surface polishing and detailed occlusal modification to achieve comfortable, precise intra‑oral adaptation.
